How to get a YouTube Music or YouTube Premium Student Subscription
In order to sign up for a YouTube student membership, you must be enrolled as a student at a higher education institution in a location where YouTube student memberships are offered and that has been approved by SheerID. The eligibility of the institution is determined by SheerID. To check if your college or university has student plans available:
- Visit the Student Plan landing page for YouTube Premium or YouTube Music.
- Select Get Student Plan.
- Type in your institution on the SheerID form. If your institution appears then student plans are available.
- Be verified as a student by SheerID. For help with the verification process, email SheerID at customerservice@sheerid.com.
- If you meet all the eligibility requirements for a membership, you will be eligible for up to four years of student membership. You will be required to re-verify your eligibility every year.
A YouTube Music Student Subscription can be started with a 1 month free trial and will cost £4.99/month thereafter and a YouTube Premium subscription will be £6.99/month.
If you are a student and currently have an active subscription to a YouTube paid membership and would like to switch to a discounted student membership, you will need to first cancel your existing subscription before being able to sign up for a YouTube student membership.
