TIDAL drops Samsung TV support and its music streaming app will no longer be available on Samsung TVs. The change will affect TVs running Tizen OS starting from 8th July 2024. Users have been informed of upcoming alterations via email.

The message from TIDAL reads, ‘After July 8, 2024, Tidal will no longer be available on Samsung SmartTVs. To keep listening to your favourite tunes, log in to Tidal from your computer, download the mobile app, or discover other ways to stream.’

In recent months, the company has also removed its apps from other streaming devices, including Amazon Fire TV and Roku.

TIDAL is advising affected users to access the service through alternative means, such as:

  • Logging in via computer browser
  • Using the TIDAL mobile app
  • Casting content from mobile devices to TVs using Chromecast or Bluetooth
  • Exploring other compatible streaming devices

With its recent announcement that it was dropping support for MQA and Sony’s 360 Reality Audio immersive format, TIDAL is rationalising its service focussing on high quality audio streaming via FLAC and Dolby Atmos. Whether the streamer will continue to support Apple TV and Google TV is still not known but with its recent price reduction it is still a top contender for those subscribers who prioritise high quality audio music streaming on mainstream devices.
