TIDAL cuts the cost of HiRes streaming by combining its HiFi Plus and HiFi tiers into a single subscription tier called TIDAL. Available from the 10th April, the streamer is updating the pricing across all of its 61 countries giving subscribers access to the complete 110 million track catalogue.
The US pricing is as follows which essentially reduces its combined price to the same as its existing HiFi tier:
- The TIDAL Individual plan for $10.99 USD/month
- The Family plan (for you and up to 5 other family members) for $16.99 USD/month.
- The Student plan (discounted for current students) for $4.99 USD/month.
- An add-on for $9/month to access over 110M songs in lossless quality through TIDAL’s suite of DJ partners.
Other changes which will come into force on the 10th April include stopping their ad-supported Free tier in the US and ending their Military/First Responder discounted rate which was only available in the US.
Although prices for every country have not been published, it is expected that the new TIDAL subscription plan will be the same as the current HiFi tier in that market. With the adoption of FLAC as its default format for its HiRes streams instead of MQA, TIDAL now becomes a serious alternative to Apple Music, Qobuz and Amazon Music.
