SuperStereo 1 is a ‘Yacht Rock’ genre internet radio station broadcasting a HiRes 24-bit/96kHz Lossless FLAC stream. In December 2023 SuperStereo added a second ‘sister’ channel – SuperStereo 1+ – with a similar playlist which took over the HiRes 24-bit 192kHz stream previously used by SuperStereo 1. SuperStereo Radio Chile also broadcasts another 8 channels of music in HiRes 24-bit/96kHz Lossless FLAC. According to the station, “SuperStereo Radio Chile is the first in South America broadcasting in high resolution. SuperStereo, the station for the audiophile.”
SuperStereo 2 plays 50’s,60’s and 70’s music; SuperStereo 3 plays Pop & Dance 80’s, 90s music; SuperStereo 3+ plays New Wave, New Romantic, Synth-Pop; SuperStereo 4 plays Ballads, 80’s, 90’s, 00’s music; SuperStereo 4+ plays Ballads, Latin Pop 80’s, 90’s, 00’s; SuperStereo 5 plays Rock; SuperStereo 6 plays Instrumental Music, SQ (Quadraphonic Sound where available) and SuperStereo 7 plays Jazz.
In April 2022 SuperStereo 1 added a test server streaming at 192kHz containing metadata but which has now been discontinued. After another server upgrade in January 2024 SuperStereo Radio Chile changed its website address to www.superstereohires.com.
In July 2023 SuperStereo 1 added a CD Quality Lossless FLAC stream with no metadata. This stream was aimed at listeners with Roon and Squeezebox devices/software which often experience issues with FLAC streams containing metadata. Later additions in December 2023 not only added ‘One Plus’ but also AAC streams for Macbooks, Iphones and Ipads.
January 2025 saw a major revamp of SuperStereo Radio Chile’s website and stream upgrades which are designed to be both Roon and Squeezebox compatible making separate streams for these devices unnecessary.
