Spotify launches Soundtrap for Storytellers a cloud-based one-stop shop for podcast creation designed to make podcast production easy. Soundtrap for Storytellers is a comprehensive podcast creation tool that offers recording, remote multi-track interviewing with video chat, smart editing of audio as a text document, full audio production, direct-to-Spotify publishing of the podcast, and transcript publishing to optimize SEO all in one service.
In a blog posting Spotify describes how it gathered together the hosts of nine podcasts to Spotify’s NYC office for a hands-on ‘Pod Camp’ demo of Soundtrap for Storytellers. Interviews with the podcasters together with links to their podcasts can be found here.
Spotify has embraced an audio-first strategy and has set aside up to $500 million in 2019 for investment into non-music listening which it expects will make up over 20% of its streaming. Recent acquisitions include Gimlet Media – an independent producer of podcast content, Anchor – a market leading tool for podcast creation, publishing, and monetization services and Parcast – a premier storytelling-driven podcast studio.
Soundtrap for Storytellers is available now on iOS and Android, with pricing starting at $14.99/month and an annual plan starting at $11.99/month.
