New streaming platform for independent artists launched which has adopted a user centric payout model. Built by a team of two, Luke Lau and Daniel Cosgrove, in Belfast and Dublin, Minm was launched in late 2021 and was built alongside local artists and independent labels with the aim of making streaming more sustainable.
Instead of paying royalties per stream, listeners can subscribe for €5 a month and listen to the growing catalogue of great independent artists. Then at the end of each month, 90% of their €5 is split proportionally and given directly the artists they listened to. A fuller explanation of how this works can be found on their site here.
Feedback from independent artists has so far been positive and a selection of them can be found below:
- Dark Matter, Irish Artist
“Great to see @minm_music taking a stand for artists with their new fair and transparent streaming service. €5 a month to subscribe, with payments distributed fairly to the artists you listen to. Made in Ireland too. We’re on board.”
- Joel Harkin
“Shams, yous know how I’m always on about fair streaming. I got chatting to the lads behind @minm_official today and holy hell i couldn’t be more excited. A streaming service with a grass routes ethos and a user centric payment system.”
- Disco Participation Matrix, Irish Artist
“We put the EP up on fair Irish streaming service @minm_music. Great to see an Irish company making the move to provide fair streaming for artists!”
There is currently no free trial period and the UK subscription works out at £4.34/month for unlimited streaming. Minm guarantee that 90% of your subscription goes directly to the artists you listen to.
