Local music tops the Polish CD charts in 2022 with the top 8 tracks in the Top Ten being locally produced Polish music according to zpav, the Polish Association of Audio Video Producers. sanah – an artist who dominates the Polish music market, placed all four of her albums in the top ten of the OLiS* 2022 (Polish charts) list. In first place was her album Uczta, released in April 2022 with her other releases taking 3rd (Irenka), 5th (sanah śpiewa Poezyje) and 8th place (Królowa dram).
The first hip-hop release was in 6th place with the album Hotel Maffija 2 by rappers from the SB Maffija collective. Artists from outside Poland in the Top 100 made up 29 positions, and the highest position was achieved by Harry Styles, who with the album Harry’s House taking 10th place. K-pop boyband BTS came in at #20 with Proof. The third best selling foreign album is Nirvana’s Nevermind release, which ranks at #25. Last year a total of 364 new albums featured in the charts which is 55 less than last year.
Majority of radio plays in 2022 are not Polish
Foreign artists are at the forefront of last year’s radio playlists. Polish radio stations were conquered by the dance hit Where Did You Go? by British DJ and producer Jax Jones featuring MNEK which topped the air play charts. Second place belonged to another British producer – Sigala and the song Melody with the single Won’t Forget You by Australian-New Zealand duo Shouse taking the 3rd podium slot.
The first Polish song in the line-up is a remix of Bryska’s Reflection (Mark Neve Remix) , which reached 6th place. In the Top 20 only two more positions are occupied by Polish artists – 15th place is Igo with the song Helena and 20th place BRO with the hit It will still be beautiful.
In total, the Top 100 of the Airplay list for 2022 includes 35 songs in which Polish artists were involved. Polish performers fare slightly better in the Top 20 list of total artist airplays with sanah in first place for the second year running. In second place was the American band Imagine Dragons and British singer Ed Sheeran third. Dawid Podsiadło also reached the top ten, taking 5th place. Other Polish artists in this ranking are Sylwia Grzeszczak – 12th, Grzegorz Hyży – 13th, Dawid Kwiatkowski 14th, Gromee – 16th and C-BooL in 17th position.
*OLiS is a list of the best-selling albums in Poland in physical format, based on retail sales data from the network of the largest music stores in Poland. On the 12th January 2023, the Association of Audio Video Producers introduced new sales bestseller lists (OLiS).
