GGRN (Global German Radio Network) is an experimental internet radio station run as a hobby from Eckental in Germany. The station is fully legal and licensed for up to 48 hours of broadcast time a week but is operated mainly at the weekend (Fridays and Saturdays). They have a CD Quality Lossless FLAC stream and a 48kbps AAC+v2 and 192kbps MP3 stream. According to the station, “Our playout is 24Bit/96KHz FLAC and of course MP3 (192KBit), AAC+V2 (48KBit), running on Icecast servers and some video streams (WebRTC + LLHLS 1080p,720p H264 video, 320KBit AAC audio + experimental AV1 1080p SVC scaled with OGG and AAC audio) running on several media servers (ovenmediaengine, SRS and mediamtx) all available via webplayer or custom players.”
They continued, “The radio is one of the first webradios worldwide (est. 1995 and earlier experimental) with the goal to test, evaluate and establish new streaming technologies, also terrestrial (FM, DAB+).”
