Deezer rolls out Dark Mode to iOS and desktop app joining the Android version launched in July 2019. According to the streamer, Dark Mode is the most sought-after feature from its users and the new feature gives users the freedom to switch from their normal light music player to a dark grey background. The claimed benefits are reduced eye strain and improved readability in low light conditions. Dark mode setting can be turned on or off at any time on iOS mobile and Deezer’s desktop app.
Deezer says that its users listen to music on average 30 minutes each night and the new dark mode feature can be easily turned on or off through the display settings to match each user’s preference. It says that some users may prefer a dimmer background in daylight hours to assist their reading experience or provide a better night’s sleep.
Dark mode users can also customize their visual experience by choosing an all-over dark background or keep the colourful version that is also available on bright mode. Users that choose to keep the vibrant background will notice the colour dynamically change to match the artwork of every track that is being played.
Stefan Tweraser, Chief Product and Growth Officer at Deezer commented: “Dark mode is not only one of the most requested features from our users, but it’s also one that we are personally excited about. While we love our new rebranded app, we also understand that in some situations, it would benefit users to switch between light and dark. So, whether you want to prevent eye strain or it’s just your preferred style, Deezer’s dark mode is for those who dare to venture to the dark side.”
Deezer’s dark mode is available to iOS and desktop app users now and is also available for Android users. Free and Premium users can access Dark Mode on their mobile devices and on the Deezer website by simply heading to Settings, Display Settings and selecting Dark Mode. Within their settings, iOS users can also change the colour of their Deezer app icon from the default white to dark.
Deezer connects 14 million monthly active users around the world and is available in over 180 countries worldwide.
