Deezer Family now has individual logins so that every household member can log in to their own independent account under the one Family plan. It means that family members no longer have to share login details. The main account holder can still create new profiles for household members. The account holder can invite a member of the family to join your Deezer Family plan, with an independent account and their own login details. This works both if they already have an account or if they’re about to join Deezer for the first time.
There is one quirk to this process and that is if one of the family members has a Premium account as only Deezer Free accounts can be added to a Family subscription. If you have a Deezer Premium account and you want to connect to a Deezer Family plan, you’ll need to cancel first. Once your subscription has reverted back to Deezer Free, you can connect your Deezer account as an Independent account, using the invite link. If you already have a Deezer Free account the process is the same, but there is no need to cancel first. Once added to the Family account your newly added account will revert to a Premium subscription.
Deezer’s VP of Product, Benoit Terpereau, said, “We know the work that goes into setting up a great music library. Now your family members don’t have to start from scratch when they join the family account. So you also don’t have to worry about sharing login details with anyone. And don’t worry, you still have access to all of the parental controls for the sub-profiles you’ve created, to make sure your kids have a safe listening experience.”
Family accounts are available to all users on all platforms.
A future enhancement promised by the streamer is to allow family members to change their profiles into independent Deezer accounts. So when the kids move out, they don’t have to worry about their music library staying with mum and dad.
