Deezer creates new 360 Reality Audio app joining TIDAL and Amazon Music in supporting Sony’s new immersive audio format. The announcement comes shortly after Amazon Music announced its support for the new format last month. 360 Reality Audio is a new audio format that maximizes the spatial sound field by creating multiple virtual speakers. Instruments are converted into independent ‘objects’, placeable anywhere in true 360-degree space resulting in ‘a truly immersive listening experience’. The app which is called 360 by Deezer is available both as an iOS and Android app and is free to download. You will also need a Deezer HiFi subscription and compatible headphones to experience Reality Audio. You will need to set up your headphones using Sony’s Headphones Connect app. This app will optimize your headphones by customizing the sound according to your ear shape. 360 Reality Audio can be enjoyed with most headphones but is optimized for Sony’s range of headsets.
In the 360 by Deezer app you can also find featured albums and playlists in Deezer’s recommendations page or search alphabetically by artist name. You will also be able to find your Deezer favourites and playlists directly in the 360 by Deezer app for instant access as it sync’s with Deezer’s main app so users can flip a toggle to see only 360 Reality Audio or standard tracks. The initial launch catalogue contains 360 RA tracks including artists such as Aerosmith, Britney Spears, Earth Wind & Fire, Marvin Gaye and Miles Davis with more promised.
