Deezer boosts its in-app music discovery with its ‘mix inspired by’ functionality now prominently featured in the app to encourage users to deep dive into new music with mixes inspired by the tracks they love
Helping people discover new music is an essential part of Deezer’s promise to its users. With AI, advanced algorithms and editorial expertise, the global music streamer has created powerful personalization and recommendation tools to keep users finding new favourites – including Flow, SongCatcher and thousands of curated playlists. Deezer is now highlighting one of its most effective, but lesser known, ways of musical exploration in its app – the ‘mix inspired by’ feature.
As of now, all users have easy access to mixes based on some of their favourite songs and other tracks based on music they like, directly on the homepage in their Deezer app. Data shows that most of the people who already use the feature put the songs they discover on a playlist, or mark them as favourites, showing that it’s a powerful tool to find new music.
Thomas Bouabca, Director of Data Science, Deezer said, “We are very proud of this feature, and know that people use it to discover new songs that they wouldn’t necessarily have found otherwise. We have created a very precise algorithm that gives our users the perfect mix of songs that match their taste, blended with surprises that make them come back to discover more.”
The ‘mix inspired by’ feature is being continuously improved, with an algorithm built on the relationships between millions of songs and artists, popularity on playlists with both users and editors, moods, genres and many other factors.
