Apple Music creates African Legends hub featuring playlists, albums and charts from the African continent’s greatest artists. Originally launched to coincide with this year’s Africa Day the hub contains the African Legends playlist with Fela Kuti’s funky Afrobeat, Brenda Fassie’s vivacious Afropop, Youssou N’Dour’s thrilling mbalax and Angélique Kidjo’s richly textured world fusion amongst other notable African artists.

The African Legends hub consists of Essentials Playlists, Essentials Albums, Classic Singles, A Spotlight On and a dedicated playlist with 50 of the top African songs of all time. Apple Music said, “Our African Legends collection is a hub dedicated to the continent’s greatest artists. Africa is home to a colourful tapestry of musical styles, from the soulful sounds of folk musician Vusi Mahlasela and the funk-Afrobeat of Nigerian William Onyeabor to Algerian singer Khaled with his pop and rai style of music.”
