Amazon Music is to increase some plans from the 5th May affecting mainly Single Device and Prime discounted subscriptions. The affected Amazon Music Unlimited plans in the UK are:
- The Amazon Music Single-Device Plan is changing from £3.99 to £4.99 per month.
- The Amazon Music Unlimited Individual Plan (discounted price for Amazon Prime members) is changing from £7.99 to £8.99 per month, or from £79 to £89 per year.
The updated pricing starts on the 5th May 2022 and existing subscriber will begin seeing the new price on their first bill after that date.
If you are on a trial period or part of a promotional offer you will continue to receive the discounted rate for the remainder of your promotion period. Once that period ends, Amazon will honour the original subscription price for one billing cycle. The new pricing will go into effect on the bill after that.
Prime subscribers in the US and Canada will also have their plans increased from $7.99 to $8.99 per month or from $79 to $89 per year.
The price of Amazon Music for customers without an Amazon Prime membership – currently £9.99 ($9.99 US) per month will remain unchanged.
Subscribers to Amazon Music’s Single-Device Plan, which gives users access to the full Amazon Music Unlimited service, but locked to a single eligible Echo or Fire TV device will see their plan increased from $3.99 to $4.99 in the US. Similar increases will also apply to Australia, New Zealand, France, Brazil and Canada.
These increases are part of trend for streaming services to increase subscription plans and follows a recent price increase from video streamer Netflix. In the UK, the basic and standard plans have increased by £1 a month to £6.99 and £10.99 respectively, while the premium tier has gone up by £2 to £15.99. Similar price rises have been made in the US and other countries.
