Local music continues to top the album charts in France in the first half of 2023 according to figures released by SNEP, the French music industry association. In an analysis of the top 200 albums in the first six months of 2023:
- 17 of the Top 20 albums are French productions
- Three quarters of the Top 200 albums are French productions
- 33 first albums rank in the Top 200 with more than three quarters produced in France.
These figures confirm a strong trend observed over the last 10 years, 17 to 19 French productions have appeared in the Top 20 annual charts and the Top 10 is entirely French. 43 female artists had albums in the Top 200 with 22 being produced in France.
The top three albums in the first half of the year were in order:
- Les Enfoirés – 2023 Enfoirés un jour, toujours
- Hamza – Sincèrement
- Jul – C’est quand qu’il s’éteint ?
Jul’s album also had the longest stay at No #1 for 3 weeks.
French streaming statistics for the first half of 2023
- 13 titles produced in France in the Top 20
- 61% of French productions in the Top 200
- The 200 most listened to paid streaming titles represent 10.5% of the total number of paid plays.
- There were 60.4 Bn audio streams – a 20% increase on 2022. 81% of these streams came from paid subscriptions.
French radio statistics for the first half of 2023
- 46 French titles ranked in the Top 100 of the best radio broadcasts during the first 6 months of the year. 6 French titles were in the Top 20.
- 21 of the Top 100 were new artists
- 29 French speaking titles appeared in the Top 100
- The 100 most broadcast titles represent around 30% of all radio broadcasts down 3.3% on 2022.
