Spotify syncs lyrics to the music using the Musixmatch lyrics platform so you can read or sing along as the track plays. This feature is being gradually rolled out on the platform and the feature won’t work for all tracks on Spotify, but supported songs will be indexed with a LYRICS tag much like the EXPLICIT tag in playlists. You can read the lyrics from the Now Playing section, just below the cover art and the music controls. Tapping on the lyrics card expands them on your mobile device.
The Musixmatch technology is used by Apple Music, Shazam, Amazon Music and social media sites such as Instagram and Facebook and Google’s search engine. Musixmatch is also available as a stand alone app with over 50 million users and has a catalogue of over 14 million song titles in 58 supported languages.
