60North Radio is an internet radio station broadcasting mainly indie music based in the Shetland Islands way up in the north of the UK. Started in 2004 as a local information station it had 6 low power FM transmitters by 2005 but by 2014 the harsh local weather had destroyed them all. Now the station is internet radio only and broadcasts a CD Quality lossless FLAC stream, 48kbps and 256kbps AAC streams and a 320kbps MP3 stream.
The website has a webplayer where you can choose between the three AAC and MP3 audio streams. It also shows what is playing now and there is a Listen Again section where you can catch up with past shows via Mixcloud.
There are also mobile apps for both Android and iOS platforms.
And for those who want to see a little more of the Shetlands they host a number of webcams of their local area including a PuffinCam which goes live each spring.
